Join the Replacing Animal Testing Challenge – deadline Jan 14th
Via U-Collaborate in Education
Join the RAT Challenge to make a shift towards animal-free science possible!
When we walk into our local supermarket, we can assume that the products we buy are not harmful for our health. What is often not realised is that all products are tested on animals: from the ingredients to the packaging, all is screened with use of laboratory animals. Not only food, also medicines like vaccines are extensively tested on animals. Is the use of animals for our products and medical safety important or could we do without? What would our supermarket and health care look like if we would stop animal testing today?
With the RAT Challenge, students will create solutions for the association Proefdiervrij NL that will catalyze the process towards an animal experiment-free science that is more innovative and thriving than ever before. The proposed solutions can cover multiple disciplines. The Challenge is open for registration until the 14th of January 2022.
This 7.5 EC elective course will run in the second semester of the academic year from 14th of February until the 1st of July. The course is open for registration NOW to third year bachelor, master students, PhD candidates from all academic and scientific backgrounds at TU/e, WUR, UU, and UMCU and professionals. They will work in multi-disciplinary teams, all bringing their own expertise. Finding a solution for this real-life challenge requires creative co-creation. They will be supported through the process by a coach and workshops/seminars by content experts. The challenge is completed with an advisory report and a pitch of the prototype that the teams have developed.
