Call for nominations: Honours Teacher of the Year 2021

Dear honours student,

Do you know a teacher who is passionate about honours education? A teacher that provides you with a safe and supportive environment to push yourself beyond the limits of your own academic expectations? Then nominate this honours teacher for the Honours Teacher of the Year Award. The deadline for nominations is 30 August 2021, 12:00.

The award
The UU Honours College is happy to award the Honours Teacher of the Year Award to this year’s most outstanding Honours teacher. With this award we want to appreciate and stimulate the great work Honours teachers are doing within our university.

The price will be awarded during the official opening of the Honours Academic Year on 11 October 2021. The winner will receive a price of € 500,- to spend on honours educational innovation at Utrecht University.

The UU Honours Teacher of the Year 2021:

• is passionate about honours education
• provides students with a safe and supportive environment for them to push themselves beyond the limits of their own academic expectations
• helps raise student confidence
• is not a ‘sage on the stage’ but rather ‘a coach on the side’
• is able to create new learning experiences for students
• has an open mind for new educational ideas and possibilities
• is open to students crafting their own honours learning experience
• listens and learns from the honours students
• has not been awarded before (see the previous winners in the photo below)

Nomination procedure

• You nominate your nominee together with 2 fellow students.
• One student is the main contact person. The two other students are 2nd and 3rd contact.
• Use the nomination form to submit your nomination
• Nomination deadline: 30 August 2021, 12:00 CEST
• After nomination close on 30 August, the nominating Committee will review the nominations and select the winner.
• In case your nominee is shortlisted as one of the final candidates, you will receive an invitation to present a short pitch (3 minutes) in front of the selection committee, in September.
