Seminar Fenneke Sysling over frenologie

In het Utrecht Seminar for Cultural History spreekt dr. Fenneke Sysling op 8 september over ‘The Quantified Self and the History of Phrenology’.
Frenologie was in de 19e eeuw een populaire (pseudo)wetenschap, die stelde dat iemands aanleg en persoonlijkheid afgeleid kunnen worden uit de vorm van de schedel. Sysling verbindt de toenmalige interesse voor schedelanalyse met de huidige ‘Quantified Self’ trend om met bijvoorbeeld smartwatches allerlei data over je lichaam te verzamelen.
